Exodus 22:28-30 KJV
(28) Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.
(29) Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.
(30) Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.
Yeah…I realize it doesn’t actually say you should sacrifice your son here. But it says you should be totally willing to, and that alone is stupid. It also does say that God tells people to do it sometimes other places.
You guys are totally willing to accept that God talked to Abraham and told him to do it, and that he was rewarded because he was willing to. That mindset is exactly what makes religion so dangerous. It’s totally rational in that word to hear voices and kill your kids because of it.
How could you determine that say Andrea Yates wasn’t following the instructions of God himself? It’s not like it doesn’t happen a few places in the Bible. Why can we have a courtroom full of people where everyone including the Judge and all 12 jury members say they believe the Bible, but not one person in that group would accept that God might have told this woman to do it? If you believe the one, the other is totally reasonable. I don’t see a way to say that she is ill or lying here.
This is one reason I know Christians doubt what they say. They can’t be consistent with that position no matter how hard they try. They totally get that many things God says to do in the Bible is evil and wrong. They get it to the point they don’t buy for a second that God is currently telling people to do the exact same thing that the Bible says the same God told people to do in the past.
I really don’t understand how you guys do it. I really don’t….. Please try to explain it to me. As always the comments are open. I approve everything that isn’t spam.
