Exodus 21:20-21
20 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
21 Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money.
Seriously guys, that’s what it says. And if you are going to complain about “context” here, you better include the context that beating someone to within an inch of their life is OK.
The Bible never once says that slavery is wrong. God could have saved us a lot of hassle with just a few words on it. I mean the whole Civil War thing probably wouldn’t have had to happen if there was a clear sign in the Bible. You’d think that an omnipotent, and all loving god could have made this call. Seems pretty damn straight foreword to me.
