Matthew 21:18 KJV Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
Matthew 21:19 KJV And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
OK, all well and good. This story was in the spring. Fig trees wouldn’t have fruit. So what the hell? Is Jesus that stupid?
And talk about an overreaction. I mean let’s say it was in season, but they had a late frost. It would still be an asinine thing to do. Someone might have better luck the next year.
This is one of those just weird stories. It doesn’t make sense to include it and it really makes Jesus look like a dick. I sometimes wonder about the sanity of people who wrote this stuff.
Oh…and it was more than one nut:
Mark 11:13 KJV And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
Mark 11:14 KJV And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
